Minister Suksamruay announced the end of a three-year wait as the SML Plus Subcommittee gave the green light to pilot 349 village fund projects with a budget exceeding 99.5 million baht, aiming to stimulate the grassroots economy and reinforce the strength of village and urban community funds nationwide.
On 21 July 2026 GMT+7, Mrs. Suksamruay Wantaneeyakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that in the 4/2569 meeting of the Subcommittee for Implementing the Project to Support and Strengthen the Capacity of Village and Urban Community Funds, known as the “SML Plus Subcommittee,” held yesterday (20 July), a key agenda was to consider budget support requests for the first round of SML Plus projects from village and urban community funds across the country.
The meeting resolved to have the National Village and Urban Community Fund Office submit the results to the National Village and Urban Community Fund Committee for approval during its meeting scheduled on 27 July 2026 GMT+7.
The projects approved in this first round are those that had been pending for over three years, totaling 349 projects with a combined budget of more than 99.5 million baht. This marks the initial step forward for the SML Plus initiative after a long wait by village and urban community funds nationwide.
Furthermore, the National Village and Urban Community Fund Office will expedite the submission of remaining project support requests for continuous consideration, planning to review additional requests between August and September 2026 GMT+7, aiming to secure funding in the billions of baht.
The approval of this budget is expected to be a crucial factor in driving grassroots economic development and concretely strengthening village and urban community funds across the country.
