The Prime Minister opened the 1st Green Bridge Forum, aiming to enhance governance and support investment in the green economy and innovations with positive environmental impact, emphasizing the Supreme Audit Institution's (SAI) role in fostering transparency within the public sector.
At 09:00 on 22 July 2026 GMT+7, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over the opening ceremony and gave a keynote speech at the 1st Green Bridge Forum on Regional Environmental Auditing and related partners, held in the main conference room of the Nong Nooch Pattaya International Convention and Exhibition Center, Nong Nooch Pattaya Garden, Sattahip District, Chonburi Province. Attendees included Deputy Minister of Interior Pol.Peer Suwannachawi, Navy Commander Admiral Phairoj Fuangchan, Permanent Secretary of the Interior Ministry Atsit Sampantharat, Auditor General Montien Charoenphon, related agencies, and international organizations.
The Prime Minister delivered a keynote titled “Thailand’s Transition to a Green Future: The Role of the Public Sector in Driving Sustainable Development,” describing the forum as a vital platform linking public auditing with environmental and sustainable development agendas, which relate to citizens’ lifestyles and livelihoods. He stressed preparing the country’s infrastructure to withstand economic and environmental crises while maintaining appropriate growth. Sustainability is no longer a development constraint but a core policy guiding Thailand’s development, such as sustainable investment and environmentally conscious resource use.
Therefore, Thailand supports investment in the green economy and innovations with positive environmental impacts. At the same time, the country recognizes that transitioning to an environmentally friendly economy requires maximizing and auditing public resource use effectively. This underscores the critical importance of good governance principles.
Prime Minister Anutin added, that the circular economy and pollution are key issues requiring government collaboration. The Supreme Audit Institution must focus on these in its audits to encourage environmentally friendly and sustainable spending and investments. He expressed pleasure in seeing sustainability integrated into the Green Bridge Forum report released today, which supports and advances the SAI’s work and strengthens public sector operations.
He concluded that having an independent organization with a vision to audit public sustainability according to international standards would further elevate public sector performance. No country can fully identify environmental problems alone, as these are international issues. Therefore, this forum is essential for sharing experiences with global partners while considering future generations who will inherit these resources. We must be mindful that our descendants will also rely on these resources.
Additionally, the Prime Minister thanked all members working on environmental audits for promoting transparency and elevating governance standards globally, aiming to preserve sufficient resources for future generations. He expressed hope that the forum would be successful and beneficial for the world. After the opening, the Prime Minister toured exhibitions on environmental auditing and sustainable development within the convention center before proceeding to chair a policy meeting on "Driving Government Security Operations in Chonburi Province" at the Sky Seminar Hall 1, Nong Nooch Pattaya Garden, Sattahip District, Chonburi Province.
