The Prime Minister has declared that officials must adopt a proactive approach to reach citizens who have missed out on receiving the state welfare card, following incidents where an elderly woman lost consciousness and a villager died in an accident while traveling to confirm their eligibility.
On 22 Jul 2026 GMT+7, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul addressed cases where citizens traveling to verify their identity and facial scan for the state welfare card fell unconscious and died in Nan province, as well as two fatalities in Phetchabun province due to accidents after traveling to handle matters related to the state welfare card. He stated that the Ministry of Interior will provide full support. At yesterday’s cabinet meeting, he personally emphasized that citizens should not be required to travel for appeals. Instead, officials must go into the field to visit citizens and check for any missed entitlements to resolve these issues on the spot. He reiterated that the government must take a proactive role in this work.
