At 11:40 a.m. on 23 July 2026 at the Government House, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul responded to Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs' statement expressing disappointment with the Thai government after his visit to China. He agreed with the statement that Taiwan is an inseparable part of China and said that Thailand has consistently upheld the One-China policy. This is nothing new, and cooperation activities do not conflict with this policy. Thailand is not blocking anything, as the One-China policy is clear for Thailand.
Regarding Taiwan's expression of disappointment toward Thailand, Anutin said this was Taiwan's stance, which Thailand acknowledges. He reiterated that Thailand's policy is clear and believes it will not have any impact.
When asked if any diplomatic measures are needed to foster understanding, Anutin said that mutual understanding already exists. As for whether Taiwan sees Thailand as biased, he smiled and responded that Thailand's policy is One-China with no bias. He declined to comment on matters related to social media speculation.
When asked if there are concerns about the impact on Thai workers in Taiwan or the possible cancellation of visa-free privileges, Anutin reiterated that Thailand's policy is clear. When pressed about whether an official letter clarifying Thailand's position is needed, the Prime Minister said Thailand's stance is already clear.
