On 23 Feb 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Rangsit Rom, deputy leader of the Prachachon Party, spoke about the escalating unrest in the three southern border provinces after militants attacked the 45th Ranger Regiment base in Narathiwat. He conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and pointed out that despite heavy spending, equipment, and strict law enforcement, the problem remains unresolved. Therefore, the government must return to the root cause and genuinely adhere to the principle of "restoring justice to all parties."
Mr. Rangsit stated that beyond punishing perpetrators, the government must take responsibility for past mistakes, such as the Tak Bai incident and the shooting of Narathiwat MP Kamolsak Liwamo of the Prachachon Party. Officials have yet to apprehend and legally punish those responsible, reflecting ongoing justice issues in the region.
Additionally, Mr. Rangsit addressed the appointment of Pol Gen Samran Nualma as the Royal Thai Police chief, noting his unusually long seven-year tenure. He said the prime minister and the new police chief must transparently explain the selection criteria to the public based on merit, ability, and seniority.
The deputy leader of the Prachachon Party emphasized that the House Legal Affairs, Justice and Human Rights Committee is currently establishing a subcommittee to consider comprehensive justice system reform. He hopes that during Pol Gen Samran’s seven years in office, he will effectively combat illegal activities, gray capital, and influential figures without bias to prove himself and dispel allegations of a "ticket system." Otherwise, the next seven years risk being wasted, worsening corruption within the police force.
