Governor Chadchart emphasized his consistent commitment to Bangkok Metropolitan Council meetings, explaining he was absent during the session amending meeting rules because it did not concern the executive branch, so he went to perform other duties. He stressed that the executive is not part of the council's quorum.
23 July 2026 GMT+7 Mr. Chadchart Sitthiphan, Governor of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration. He addressed concerns about the executive branch's participation in Bangkok Metropolitan Council meetings, affirming that he and his executive team have always valued these meetings and attend whenever they do not have pressing duties.
Governor Chadchart further stated that he and the executives regularly attend Bangkok Metropolitan Council meetings, as they consider them highly important. On 22 July 2026, the meeting began at 10:00 a.m. He, the four deputy governors, the governor's chief advisor, and the executive team were present from the start, responding to two live questions and motions continuously until the meeting adjourned for a break at 12:10 p.m. They resumed at 1:10 p.m., addressing all questions and motions up to agenda item 7.3.
. The meeting then moved agenda item 7.9 forward, which concerned amendments to the council's meeting rules and was unrelated to the executive branch. Therefore, the executives stepped outside the meeting room to allow council members to debate and consider the matter respectfully. That agenda took over two hours to consider. During this time, several executives had other official duties. Around 5:10 p.m., anticipating the meeting was approaching closure, the executives began to leave for their assignments. By approximately 5:30 p.m., when the agenda concluded, no executives remained in the meeting room, and the council chairman closed the meeting.
He reiterated that the governor and executives are not members of the council quorum. The governor's role is to respond to live questions and submit relevant motions, which has been consistently done. Even when the governor is absent from the meeting room, written explanations are prepared and submitted to the council for consideration following procedures. Thus, the meeting can proceed without the executives present.
"I place great importance on council meetings. The image of executives being absent yesterday was because the agenda under consideration was unrelated to the executive branch and took considerable time. During that period, executives were performing other duties while continuously monitoring the meeting's progress. The key point is to present accurate information so the public understands that the governor and executive branch have consistently participated and provided explanations on relevant matters."
