Defense Ministry Spokesperson Condemns Brutal and Inhumane Attack on Bukeh Sami Checkpoint in Narathiwat Province

The Defense Ministry spokesperson condemned the perpetrators of the attack on the Bukeh Sami checkpoint in Narathiwat Province as brutal and inhumane, revealing that the Prime Minister has ordered enhanced intelligence measures to improve effectiveness.

At 16:30 on 23 July 2026, at the Defense Ministry, Rear Admiral Surasat Kongsiri, the ministry's spokesperson, stated that following the attack where assailants used firearms and pipe bombs against the Bukeh Sami checkpoint in the Ton Yong Mas Subdistrict Municipality, Ra-ngae District, Narathiwat Province, the Prime Minister has issued urgent orders on three points: to expedite investigation and capture of the perpetrators as soon as possible; to strengthen intelligence measures through more effective inter-agency integration; and to provide full care and compensation to the victims' families according to their rights. Meanwhile, local agencies have increased surveillance and safety measures for civilians, security personnel, and groups that might be targeted by unrest. The cause of the attack remains under investigation and verification by authorities and relevant agencies.

The Defense Ministry spokesperson also condemned those responsible for this violent incident, including any accomplices, stating that such actions are brutal, inhumane, and utterly unacceptable, especially as innocent and uninvolved individuals have been injured and affected by the attack.
