The Legal Committee on Law invaded the Navy Ordnance Department to verify the burial site of the gun used in the shooting of MP Kamolsak, aiming to clarify the issue of missing weapons.
On 24 July 2026, the House of Representatives' Committee on Law, Justice, and Human Rights, led by Chairman Rangsit Rome along with members such as Romadon Panjor, Laofang Bandit Therdsakul, Piyarat Jatep, and advisor Police Colonel Tawee Sod Song, visited Sattahip District, Chonburi Province to investigate the firearm used in the March 20, 2026 shooting of MP Kamolsak Liwamo of the Prachachart Party.
This visit followed investigative leads indicating that the weapon used matched a Navy firearm which had reportedly been sold and handed over to the Navy Ordnance Department for destruction by cutting and burial since 2021. The committee therefore went on-site to verify the facts and dispel doubts.
The committee observed a demonstration of weapon destruction procedures and inspected the burial site within the Navy Ordnance Department’s restricted area. Rangsit revealed that the Navy has consistently maintained the gun was cut into seven pieces and buried. However, no excavation was conducted during this visit; the inspection relied solely on photos provided by the Navy Ordnance Department, which did not clearly show the firearm’s registration number to confirm if it matched the weapon seized in the south.
“Today, it is still not possible to conclude whether the weapon claimed to have been destroyed and buried was actually buried. To verify this properly, excavation would be necessary. However, the committee may not have the authority to order such action. We must await the Navy’s investigative committee’s findings, and we will request additional documents and information for further review,” said Rangsit.
Victim MP Kamolsak Liwamo did not attend the observation due to his commitment to perform Umrah in Saudi Arabia. He appointed his personal lawyer, Gohar Awapute, along with Police Lieutenant Colonel Maitri Santayakul and the Prachachart Party’s case monitoring team to accompany the committee to collect information and follow up on judicial progress.
