A royal decree has appointed Udom Sitthivirattham as President of the Constitutional Court and Pol. Lt. Gen. Chakrapong Wiwatwanich as a Constitutional Court judge.
On 24 July 2026, the Royal Gazette website published the royal decree.The announcement appoints the President of the Constitutional Court and Constitutional Court judges.It states that His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has graciously issued a royal decree declaring the following.
Previously, by royal decree dated 16 November 2015 and 19 March 2024, Mr. Nakarin Mektrairat was appointed as Constitutional Court judge and President of the Constitutional Court. Subsequently, Mr. Nakarin Mektrairat has vacated the position due to completion of his term, leaving a vacancy.
Now, the Senate has approved Pol. Lt. Gen. Chakrapong Wiwatwanich, who meets all qualifications and has no prohibitions, to be appointed as Constitutional Court judge under Article 200 (4) of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand. The approved individual along with the remaining eight sitting Constitutional Court judges have convened to elect one among themselves as President of the Constitutional Court.
By the authority of Article 200 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, in conjunction with Sections 8 and 12 of the Organic Act on Constitutional Court Procedure B.E. 2561 (2018), His Majesty has graciously appointed the following President and Constitutional Court judge.
1. Mr. Udom Sitthivirattham as President of the Constitutional Court.
2. Pol. Lt. Gen. Chakrapong Wiwatwanich as Constitutional Court judge.
These appointments take effect immediately.
