The government advises student loan borrowers to restructure their debt online to reduce the risk of legal action through the ThaID or Paotang applications, while also warning to verify before making payments and beware of fraudsters impersonating debt collectors.
On 26 Jul 2026 GMT+7, Second Lieutenant Phatdarasmi Thongsaluaykorn, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the government, through the Student Loan Fund (SLF), continues to support borrowers. Borrowers with outstanding debts can independently enter the debt restructuring process online to help lower repayment burdens and plan payments suitably, also reducing the risk of legal proceedings. They can verify their identity via the ThaID or Paotang apps, update personal information, check debt balances and installment amounts. After completing the process, status can be checked on the “Electronic Debt Restructuring Contract System (e-Contract)” website.
The Deputy Spokesperson emphasized that borrowers must carefully verify if anyone contacting them for overdue payments is authorized by the SLF to prevent fraud. They must never transfer money to personal accounts or disclose personal information, passwords, or OTP codes to others, as the SLF and its authorized agents do not request such information via phone or social media.
The proper and secure repayment channels are Mobile Banking apps from any bank, payment at Krungthai Bank counters nationwide, or Service counters by providing the national ID number and payment amount. If uncertain, borrowers can inquire directly through the SLF's official Line account.
