NIDA Poll reveals that people who registered but did not receive the State Welfare Card are not angry at the government but remain uncertain about how they will decide to engage with the government.
On 26 July 2026, the NIDA Poll Center at the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) released survey results titled “Do the Poor Have Rights?” The survey was conducted between 21-23 July 2026 among 1,850 individuals aged 18 and over with monthly incomes not exceeding 10,000 baht, including those without income, from all regions, educational levels, and occupations nationwide. The survey used probability sampling from NIDA Poll’s Master Sample database, employing multi-stage sampling and data collected via telephone interviews, with a margin of error not exceeding 0.05 at a 97.0% confidence level.
The survey asked if respondents had ever received benefits from the State Welfare Card program. Results showed that 53.78% said they had received benefits, while 46.22% said they had never received them.
Regarding registration for the 2026 State Welfare Card program, 51.73% reported having registered but not receiving the benefits, 24.65% said they did not register, and 23.62% said they registered and received the benefits.
Among those who did not register for the State Welfare Card program (456 respondents), 50.66% believed they were not eligible, 22.37% did not want to register, 14.25% registered too late, and 12.72% did not know how to register.
When asked how they felt about not receiving benefits despite registering (957 respondents), 43.26% said they were not angry at all, 21.53% said they were very angry, 20.69% said they were somewhat angry, and 14.52% said they were not very angry.
Among those who registered and received the State Welfare Card (437 respondents), 36.84% were still unsure about their future support for the government, 32.49% said receiving the benefits contributed to their support, 19.00% said they would support the government regardless of receiving the card, and 11.67% said they would not support the government under any circumstances.
