“Aekniti” expressed satisfaction as a poll indicated the 2026 State Welfare Card program has boosted the government's support base, with 32% saying they appreciate the government more after receiving benefits. More than half of those who missed eligibility are not angry, as they already understand the program's screening conditions.
On 26 July 2026, Mr. Aekniti Nitithanprapas, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, revealed details regarding a NIDA Poll survey. “Do the poor have rights?” The survey was conducted from 21 to 23 July 2026 among citizens nationwide earning no more than 10,000 baht monthly. He stated he was pleased that the majority reflected a positive view of the State Welfare Card program, especially regarding the program’s role in building trust and increasing support for the government.
The survey found that among those who received the 2026 State Welfare Card benefits—comprising 23.62% of the sample—respondents acknowledged the program’s significant influence on their political decisions. Specifically, 32.49% said receiving benefits increased their support for the government, while 19.00% said they had already supported the government regardless of benefit receipt.
Regarding the screening process, Mr. Aekniti noted that the survey shows public understanding of the eligibility criteria. Although 51.73% of registered applicants did not receive benefits, 43.26% of this group reported no anger about missing out, as they understood the conditions and their own qualifications. Moreover, 50.66% of those who did not register admitted they believed from the start they were ineligible and thus did not apply.
