Suriya Refers to Bhumjaithai Party over Senate Rigging Case, Proposes 9 Senior Ministry of Agriculture Appointments to Cabinet

Suriya plans to propose to the Cabinet the appointment of nine senior officials in the Ministry of Agriculture, stating the government has achieved its targets and deferring questions about the Senate rigging case to the Bhumjaithai Party itself.

On 27 July 2026 at 09:40 at Government House, Suriya Jungroongruangkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, revealed that he would propose the appointment and transfer of nine senior officials within the ministry. This follows last week's Cabinet appointment of Peeraphat Chandrasriwong as the new Permanent Secretary of the Ministry. According to civil service regulations, the newly appointed Permanent Secretary must consult with the current one. They have held meetings to discuss high-level transfers, considering qualifications, integrity, dedication, and expertise. The nine positions will be proposed to the Cabinet for approval. Details of the positions will be announced once the Cabinet agrees.

Suriya states the government has met its performance targets.

Suriya commented on the internet project by iLaw concerning allegations of Senate rigging linked to the Bhumjaithai Party, questioning the government’s stability. He expressed confidence that the government’s management has met its objectives. He said the rigging issue should be examined by the relevant authorities. When asked whether the government could maintain its tenure amid pending lawsuits, Suriya responded that the Bhumjaithai Party should be the one to answer such questions.
