Thailand is ready to host the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings 2026 this October. The Prime Minister emphasized that this is an important national occasion and a platform to build confidence and enhance the country's image.
At 14:00 on 27 July 2026, at the Government House, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, chaired the second national committee meeting in 2026 to prepare for the IMF and World Bank Group Annual Meetings. The meeting reviewed Thailand’s readiness to host this major international financial and economic conference scheduled from 12 to 18 October 2026 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
After the meeting, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, disclosed that the committee acknowledged the readiness assessment by representatives from the IMF and World Bank, who visited Thailand from 17 to 24 July 2026. The overall readiness remained at an A level, consistent with the February evaluation, reflecting Thailand's preparedness in venue facilities, hospitality, security, convenience, and overall management. Regarding visa procedures, a concern for the assessment team, coordination and explanations by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs satisfied both the IMF and World Bank.
The Prime Minister was briefed on progress by relevant agencies across all aspects, including substantive meeting arrangements, protocol and welcoming, security, facilitation, transportation, publicity, venue management, and scheduling of key activities throughout the event to ensure Thailand hosts the meeting smoothly, efficiently, and to international standards.
Additionally, the meeting reviewed plans to communicate Thailand's image through the Thailand Pavilion under the theme 'New Horizon: 7 Decades of Building Resilience and Empowering People.' This reflects Thailand’s development over seven decades centered on its people, alongside strengthening resilience in all dimensions. The pavilion will showcase Thailand’s capabilities focusing on four key themes: Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI), Middle Power, Climate Resilience, and Longevity, promoting knowledge exchange and future international cooperation.
The Prime Minister instructed all agencies to accelerate implementation according to the set plan, ensuring close collaboration and monitoring of ongoing tasks to complete within the timeline. Contingency plans will be prepared for any potential situations concerning facilitation, security, transportation, route management, and care for high-level foreign delegates to ensure a smooth meeting aligned with international standards.
The spokesperson said the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to all agencies for their continuous efforts in preparation. He emphasized that with only 77 days left before the meeting, this is a critical period requiring every sector to work intensively in all areas.
The Prime Minister stated that hosting this meeting is a significant national event reflecting Thailand’s image and credibility on the world stage. Being selected to host demonstrates international confidence in Thailand's capabilities and readiness. He called on all agencies to fully commit to this mission and use the opportunity to build confidence and showcase Thailand’s potential to global attendees. The Prime Minister invited all sectors—government, private, and citizens—to be good hosts, impressing participants from around the world and collectively enhancing Thailand’s image internationally.
