On 27 Jul 2026, Prasert Chantraruangthong, Minister of Education, presented the Teacher Thirakoon award to Ms. Sirikan Kangchonok and Ms. Chusita Thurasuk, assistant teachers at Ban Non Lueam School, Udomsap Subdistrict, Wang Nam Khiao District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, honoring their selflessness and dedication to the teaching profession.
The Minister of Education said that on 15 Jul 2026, intruders entered the school during lessons when many young students were present. This crisis caused great alarm and danger. However, the two teachers bravely acted with true teacher spirit, risking themselves to block and push the intruders out of the classrooms and school grounds, ensuring all students remained safe.

Today's Teacher Thirakoon award symbolizes faith, virtue, and bravery, bestowed by the Ministry of Education and the Teachers' Council to record this honorable history. The teachers’ actions were not only duty but a true expression of "teacher spirit," showing sacrifice, intelligence, courage, and steadfast professional ideals, even risking their own safety to protect their students. This impressive and valuable act has touched and been recognized nationwide. It also aligns with the Ministry of Education’s policy to ensure safety in schools.
“I hope both teachers will maintain their goodness, ideals, and teacher spirit, serving as great role models and inspiration for fellow teachers and education personnel throughout the country,” said the Minister of Education.
