"Julapan" reported that the Election Commission has postponed the Social Security Board election until the Central Administrative Court issues a ruling, due to a petition filed challenging the election conditions.
At 8:00 p.m. on 27 July 2026, Mr. Julapan Amornwiwat, Minister of Labour, posted on Facebook an important announcement stating that following a petition filed with the Central Administrative Court to review the election condition requiring "voters must register in advance with the Social Security Office" (according to the Election Commission's announcement dated 25 May 2026, Article 2).
Recently, the Central Administrative Court issued a temporary injunction before the final judgment (Case No. 1320/2026 dated 24 July 2026), suspending enforcement of Article 2 of the announcement pending the case's resolution or further court orders.
This suspension directly affects the election process, making it impossible to proceed according to the original plan. Therefore, the Election Commission resolved to delay the election process until the court issues a final ruling. Any updates or additional court orders will be promptly communicated.
Previously, under the original plan, the Social Security Office extended the registration period for insured employers and employees to register for voting rights from 1 June to 20 July 2026. They planned to announce the list of eligible voters and polling locations on 10 August, followed by the announcement of candidates and their numbers on 19 August, and the election day was scheduled for Sunday, 27 September 2026, maintaining the existing rule that each eligible voter may select up to seven representatives from their respective group.
