Ploytalay revealed that the government thanks the public for understanding the state welfare card screening system after a NIDA Poll survey showed that people were not angry at all about not receiving the benefits.
On 27 Jul 2026 GMT+7, Ms. Ploytalay Laksamee Sangchan, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, stated that the government appreciates the public's understanding of the state welfare card screening system. According to a NIDA Poll by the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA), 43.26% said they were not angry at all about not receiving benefits from the state welfare card program.
Ms. Ploytalay said the government is ready to review the screening process for the state welfare card program to precisely reach low-income and truly poor people. The government will extend the usage period for current eligible cardholders and broaden the appeal window. She asked the public not to worry, as the government listens to public feedback and wants to ensure thorough data verification before implementing new criteria. The welfare card program has not accepted new registrations for about five years, resulting in many eligible people not yet receiving assistance.
"The government emphasizes that the new state welfare cardholder database is more detailed, enabling clear classification by age groups. Data shows that out of over 9 million cardholders, more than 5 million are aged 18-60, most without assets or income. This data will guide targeted assistance policies, especially Upskill and Reskill initiatives to enhance job skills, create income opportunities, and improve the quality of life for working-age welfare cardholders instead of providing welfare assistance alone," Ms. Ploytalay said.
