Bangkok intensifies inspections of entertainment venues and similar establishments, inspecting over 72%—a total of 865 locations—in one week, and has ordered the closure of 79 businesses.
On 27 July 2026, Pornprom Na.S. Wikitset, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, reported progress on safety standard inspections of entertainment venues and similar establishments from 19 to 26 July 2026, stating that Bangkok has inspected a total of 865 out of 1,204 targeted locations, or 72%.
From the crackdown on standards and business licenses, operators were categorized into three main groups:
1. The group that met standards: 168 establishments with valid licenses that passed safety assessments.
2. The group needing improvements: 618 establishments, including 570 with valid licenses but minor defects who were advised to correct them, and 48 previously warned license holders who failed to comply within the allotted time and were ordered to make corrections; and 3. The group ordered to suspend operations: 79 establishments, including 19 ordered to stop music performances for lacking music performance licenses, and 60 temporarily closed for operating without business licenses.
