
The Prime Minister presided over a Buddhist chanting ceremony and merit-making almsgiving in honor of His Majesty King Rama X’s birthday on 28 July 2026, while the government is preparing to hold the Royal Celebration Club event tomorrow.
On 28 July 2026, Ms. Ratchada Thanadirek, spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office, announced that at 7:00 a.m. today at Sanam Luang, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul presided over a Buddhist chanting ceremony and merit-making almsgiving in honor of His Majesty King Rama X’s birthday on 28 July 2026.
The ceremony included members of the Privy Council and their spouses, the Parliament Speaker, the Supreme Court President, the Senate President, heads of constitutional organizations, Cabinet members and their spouses, the Prime Minister's Secretary-General, royal agencies, the Governor of Bangkok, military commanders, the National Police Chief and spouse, senior government officials at permanent secretary level or equivalent, and representatives from the private sector participating in the merit-making almsgiving.
Upon the Prime Minister's arrival at Sanam Luang, ten senior monks took their seats on the dais. The Prime Minister lit incense and candles to pay homage to the Triple Gem, offered incense and candles before the royal portrait of His Majesty the King, and requested the monks to give the precepts. The monks then chanted Buddhist scriptures.
Following this, the Prime Minister, Privy Council members, Parliament Speaker, Supreme Court President, Senate President, and heads of constitutional organizations presented robes and offerings to ten monks. The Prime Minister poured water to receive blessings, paid respects to the Triple Gem, and paid homage before the royal portrait of His Majesty the King.
The Prime Minister led the participants in almsgiving to 175 monks, marking the conclusion of the ceremony.
Ms. Ratchada later revealed that the government will hold the Royal Celebration Club event in honor of His Majesty King Rama X’s birthday on Wednesday, 29 July 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at the Santi Maitri Building, Government House.
His Majesty the King graciously granted royal permission for the government to organize the Royal Celebration Club event and graciously bestowed permission for Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to represent the King at the event, where Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul will be present to welcome her.
During the event, the Prime Minister will respectfully inform Her Royal Highness and request permission to deliver birthday blessings and invite honored guests to raise a toast to celebrate His Majesty the King's birthday. Afterwards, he will respectfully invite her to watch performances honoring the King, demonstrating loyalty and gratitude on this auspicious occasion.
The event will be broadcast live on the Thai Public Broadcasting Service and the National Broadcasting Services of Thailand, Department of Public Relations starting at 6:50 p.m. The government invites all Thai citizens to join in honoring and offering blessings on the occasion of His Majesty the King's birthday on 28 July 2026.
