Anutin called a meeting of Ministry of Interior executives, urging them to use the crisis to restore public trust after facing a local corruption storm. He stated that harmful parasitic elements must be removed before embracing the good, signaling plans to reset the ministry anew and affirming he bears no grudges from the past work.
At 11:00 a.m. on 28 Jul 2026 GMT+7, at the Ministry of Interior, Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, convened a meeting of ministry executives to drive forward the ministry's work. Attendees included Mr. Polpeer Suwanchawee and Mr. Chesart Thaiseth, Deputy Ministers of Interior; Mr. Chaiwat Juntirapong, Secretary to the Minister of Interior; senior executives such as Mr. Arsith Sampantharat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior; deputy permanent secretaries; department directors; and other relevant officials. The meeting lasted about an hour.
Mr. Anutin expressed gratitude to all for jointly representing the Ministry of Interior in offering well-wishes on the occasion of His Majesty the King’s birthday today, wishing blessings and prosperity upon everyone and their families.
Mr. Anutin outlined policy directives and urged all to work diligently within the Ministry of Interior, covering crime suppression, narcotics, entertainment venues, human trafficking, nominee land issues, and more, commending the good work done. He also tasked provincial governors with maintaining order within their provinces.
"Since joining this ministry, I must say I hold no hatred toward anyone; I appreciate everyone and enjoy meeting all of you. Therefore, I sincerely ask that we use the great fortune I had—three months of rest—to observe and understand your thinking and work styles fully. As August approaches, I will press the reset button and ask everyone to work hard to build results and showcase achievements."
Mr. Anutin said that now that he has returned, there are no outstanding grudges; work must be the priority. Holding dual roles as Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, he encouraged everyone to seize this opportunity to improve the well-being and quality of life for the people. He invited proposals to enhance service delivery at the highest capacity.
He added that the Deputy Ministers of Interior form one team, and there is no better opportunity than this. These officials, elected as constituency MPs, have all endured challenges and are not newcomers. Each has a solid and distinct local base. He sees these individuals as understanding the lives of the people and well-suited for the Ministry of Interior.
Mr. Anutin stated his commitment to driving the organization forward and building mutual trust. He pledged to steer the ministry through numerous challenges, especially the recent local exam fraud. Over the past two weeks, he has rekindled his mobilizing spirit to engage ministry personnel in addressing this serious issue, which has drawn numerous agencies into leadership roles, including the National Anti-Corruption Commission. This is a united effort, pooling resources like five or six converging rivers to manage the problem.
"I ask for everyone’s cooperation to act swiftly, as public trust will be restored quickly. We must not allow parasitic elements to take root, for they will consume the good entirely. If these elements continue to infiltrate, good people will not survive. We must not let the Ministry of Interior become a 'ministry of plunder.' No one who commits wrongdoing will be protected. I will reset the Ministry of Interior anew and affirm I carry no personal grudges; all work can be explained and clarified with no personal issues," Mr. Anutin said.
Additionally, Mr. Anutin assigned the Permanent Secretary, Deputy Permanent Secretary, and department directors of the Ministry of Interior to coordinate with governors along the Thailand-Myanmar border to prepare and report local data on natural resources, disasters, and narcotics. This will support preparations for discussions with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, scheduled to visit Thailand from 6 to 8 August 2026 GMT+7.
