The National Health Security Office (NHSO) has partnered with the Office of the Chularatchamontri to promote the "Mosque Health Charter to Reduce NCDs," aiming to improve health environments, foster quality children, and reduce risk factors and illness rates, expanding from 50 pilot mosques to all mosques nationwide.

The "Mosque Health Charter to Reduce Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs)." They combined religious influence and community networks to create public health policies, setting a clear goal to improve the health of Thai Muslims nationwide.

Dr. Suthep stated that this important discussion is a step forward in the strategy to build an NCDs Ecosystem (a health-supportive environment), with two main objectives.

First, to scale up from the pilot area in Satun province to the national level, building on lessons learned from 50 pilot mosques, expanding to mosques in every province, and linking with the “Hukumpakat 9 Dee Charter” to establish social agreements aligned with Islamic lifestyle and principles.

Second, to improve the environment around mosques to support NCD reduction, divided by target groups.

The children and youth group. This focuses on creating proper food environments and physical activity to develop children to grow with potential and high quality, who will become the country’s key workforce in facing an aging society.

The working-age group. This aims to reduce risk factors and illness rates from NCDs to help maintain work capacity and reduce medical expenses for families and the nation.

Dr. Suthep also said that this collaboration between the NHSO and the Office of the Chularatchamontri represents a new dimension in using religious and cultural capital as a driving force for public policy, transforming environments to make healthy choices easier and creating sustainable health for communities.
