The Deputy Government Spokesperson revealed that the Ministry of Education has scheduled 1 January 2027 to begin using a fully paperless e-Office system throughout the ministry, aiming to reduce paperwork steps and anticipate a 30-40% reduction in administrative expenses.
On 28 July 2026, Lieutenant Colonel Phatdarasmi Thongsaluaykorn, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office, announced that the Ministry of Education has designated 1 January 2027 as the launch date for a paperless e-Office system covering all affiliated agencies. This move aims to elevate government administration to a fully digital level, improve work efficiency, reduce procedural steps and redundancy in clerical tasks, and enhance the speed, transparency, and accountability of command, task tracking, and coordination.
The Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister’s Office stated that currently many agencies within the Ministry of Education have already begun using the e-Office system, such as the Office of the Permanent Secretary and the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC), before expanding implementation to all affiliated agencies to meet the set objectives.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education is preparing to develop a pilot project to connect personnel management and clerical systems of all agencies via a unified platform to enable efficient data exchange and coordination. This will also support data integration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, the Ministry of Labour, and the Ministry of Interior, with a strong emphasis on data security measures and strict access rights to build confidence in the use of government digital systems.
The Ministry of Education’s advancement of the e-Office system is part of modernizing Thailand’s government administration, aiming to reduce paper use, lessen clerical workload, and enable faster command, task tracking, and inter-agency coordination. Additionally, it promotes transparent operations that are auditable in retrospect.
Lieutenant Colonel Phatdarasmi said that adopting the e-Office system is not only about reducing paper usage but also about minimizing document duplication, enhancing management efficiency, and is expected to cut administrative costs by approximately 30-40%. It also supports collaboration among government agencies in the digital era and elevates public service delivery to be more convenient, faster, and more effective.
