Yingcheep Atchanont thanks the public for donating funds to cover travel and lawyer fees in the lawsuit over the rigged Senate election. He affirms that every baht transferred into the account will be used solely for the legal fight and calls for continued support for constitutional reform.
On 29 July 2026, Yingcheep Atchanont, director of the Internet Law Project for People (iLaw), posted on his personal Facebook expressing gratitude to the many citizens concerned and supportive in the fight against the rigged Senate election system. Over the past week, many have contributed donations to the Civil Rights Fund for Transparent Elections and a backup account of the Central Organization for Democracy Foundation, promoted and collected by Professor Somchai. According to his post, donations have now exceeded two million baht.
If I understand correctly, if I face legal action, the main expenses will be travel and lawyer fees, with minor document preparation costs and possibly some witness travel expenses. With the current two million baht, the fund "should" be sufficient, even though the number of cases is still unknown. I understand many want to donate specifically to support travel expenses for the legal battle. Therefore, every baht transferred into those accounts will be used solely for the legal fight. I will not request funds for other activities.
Meanwhile, the struggle to achieve a people's constitution and improved political structure continues, including changing the Senate election system, making the Election Commission more independent, and dismantling the ‘blue regime’ structures established by the 2017 constitution. There is still much work to do, whether proposing amendments for a 100% elected constituent assembly, organizing at least two more referendums, or amending individual constitutional articles to change the Senate's selection.
I cannot accomplish all this work with courage and fearlessness alone. Behind me is a strong team working deeply and continuously, supported by networks of organizations and groups that collect and share information to drive progress together. I cannot survive alone; all friends must move forward together for strong and effective work.
These upcoming activities require substantial funding, mostly carried out by small groups of young people with limited financial support and strength. Earlier this year during the referendum campaign, many traveled to distribute flyers at markets, talk with community members, and organize mobile campaigns in provincial villages. They have very little or no budget, with many covering expenses themselves.
I write this status to inform the public supporters that my legal fund is now at a level that is not concerning. Donations to the original fund will be saved to help others facing similar legal actions, including election monitors for the House of Representatives who might be prosecuted. However, if anyone wishes to support long-term campaigning for a new constitution, which still lacks funding compared to my legal travel expenses, I ask you to consider supporting other groups engaged in this work.
I will not announce which accounts to donate to or for what purposes, despite some inquiries, to avoid allegations that I am soliciting money through activities or media appearances. However, I ask everyone willing to support to also consider those groups actively driving this work forward.
