Worasit, Deputy Minister of Interior, revealed that Kokiat, his father, is preparing to file a complaint against a witness who alleged that if the Senate vote rigging succeeded, his son would receive a government position. He challenged anyone with evidence to submit it to the authorities.
On 30 July 2026 at the Government House, Mr. Worasit Liangprasert, Deputy Minister of Interior, spoke about a witness in the Senate vote rigging case who implicated Mr. Somkiat Liangprasert (Kokiat), his father, saying that if the Senate was selected according to this formula, his son would gain a government position.
Worasit responded by questioning if it was really that easy, adding that his father will be filing a complaint because such statements are unfair to both him and his father.
When asked if this was a political discrediting tactic, Worasit said he did not know the reason but acknowledged it as an attempt to create an issue to divert attention or possibly something else he was unaware of.
Regarding the opposition’s claim that only 5% of the evidence has been disclosed while 95% remains, or if these claims are baseless, Worasit said that should be asked of them. In reality, this matter has been completed for over a year, and if there is real evidence, it should be given to the authorities rather than to him or the media, since officials are already handling the case.
Asked if the Senate vote rigging case is a political narrative, Worasit said such tactics have been ongoing continuously.
When asked if he had talked with his father, Worasit said they have spoken but nothing special has been discussed.
When asked about the opposition’s demand for him to provide more information and that if real evidence exists he should admit fault, Worasit countered by asking what he is supposed to say since such an event has never happened, stating simply that it is not like that.
