Lisa Phakamon revealed that the government will definitely face a no-confidence debate within this year, with the level of intensity depending on societal sentiment. She pointed out that reshuffling the cabinet is less important than adjusting the leadership style of Prime Minister Anutin, who is hedonistic. She also revealed that insiders within Bhumjaithai do not trust the effectiveness of the so-called 'Luuk Thep' cabinet.
On 1 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Phakamon Noon Anan, party-list MP and spokesperson for the Prachachon Party (PChon), commented on Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul's firm stance against a cabinet reshuffle. She said that whether or not the cabinet is reshuffled is less important than the need to adjust Anutin's leadership, which today hardly tackles essential issues. She observed that the Prime Minister is known as a hedonist, but he cannot be hedonistic alone in Thailand. He must face the reality that Thai people are burdened and suffering from his governance, ranging from fuel hoarding, local exam corruption, economic hardship, to Senate rigging. Despite strong evidence, those involved shamelessly deny involvement. Today, people across Thailand or even from Mars know the Senate was established through processes linked to Bhumjaithai Party. The most crucial issues now are Senate rigging and local exam corruption, which are interconnected and must be investigated thoroughly.
Phakamon addressed the so-called 'Luuk Thep' cabinet ministers, saying that if they reshuffle these ministers and replace them with others, it might improve the party's image somewhat, though it wouldn't solve the problems. From her observations and conversations, many within Bhumjaithai are lined up to become ministers, not just second- or third-tier figures. Even former ministers and senior members lack confidence in the current ministers, who belong to the 'Luuk Thep' group. She noted that these ministers are ineffective compared to their predecessors, some of whom were senior figures. This suggests that even party insiders lack confidence in these 'Luuk Thep' ministers. She emphasized that what really needs adjustment is the Prime Minister's leadership. She said that political analysts’ opinions are their business, but the Prime Minister's duty is to prove those criticisms are unfounded.
Phakamon added that the worst and most unacceptable thing is the Prime Minister's statement likening the conflicts among three senior figures to family matters. She said that if these three elders stayed out of national affairs, the public would not interfere. Calling it a private family matter is a serious misunderstanding of his role. The opposition cannot change the Prime Minister’s attitude but will rigorously scrutinize the government through parliamentary debate, which will definitely occur within this year. Whether it will be a no-confidence vote under Section 151 or a general debate without a vote under Section 152 remains to be seen. She urged waiting for the Prachachon Party and other opposition parties to decide their approach to scrutinize a government that disregards the people. She expects the debate to happen soon in the upcoming parliamentary session, emphasizing that public sentiment is already intense.
