2 Aug 2026 GMT+7 Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, party-list Member of Parliament for the Bhumjaithai Party and former Minister of Industry, spoke about the opposition's threat to file a no-confidence motion after the parliamentary session opens in August, saying it is a constitutional right for the opposition to do so. He said it is better that the opposition uses this channel to scrutinize the government rather than giving daily media interviews that amount to much talk but little substance. He believes the issues the opposition will raise in the motion are predictable, and that all ministers can already explain them.
"Looking on the bright side, it is a good opportunity for the government to clarify the facts. Currently, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul is working hard every day, and the government's voice in parliament is strong, so there is nothing to worry about. However, after the no-confidence debate, I hope the opposition will listen to the reasons given. If they still persist but have clear evidence of corruption or fear public perception that they only make empty claims, they can submit it to the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) for investigation. The government is ready for scrutiny on all matters."
When asked if the government feels worried, Thanakorn replied that the government is not concerned because it is confident it has done nothing wrong, especially the Prime Minister. The government will use this opportunity to explain to the public the distortions the opposition has spread. If the opposition claims to have abundant information, they should prepare it well rather than resorting to excuses that waste the public’s time with baseless rhetorical attacks lacking facts and substance. The public is likely tired of the opposition's extreme performance in parliament.
