“Pradorn” intensifies the northern flood response plan, speeding up efforts to close flood risk points in Sing Buri and preparing flood defense lines within the city area to strengthen protection.
At 10:00 a.m. on 2 August 2026, Mr. Pradorn Prisana Nuntakul, Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, visited Sing Buri province to monitor flood conditions and assess preparedness for managing water inflow from the north. He was welcomed by Mr. Waradisorn Onnuch, Governor of Sing Buri, along with Mr. Sahachai Jamprasitakul, Deputy Governor, Mr. Chotiwut Thanakmanusorn, Sing Buri MP, heads of government departments, and related agencies who provided situation reports.
The first stop was at the mouth of Khlong Krathum Phong, Village No. 6, Phra Ngam Subdistrict, Phrom Buri District, an area affected by riverbank subsidence. They received a briefing from the Sing Buri Irrigation Project on the situation and planned solutions.
Then at 10:45 a.m., the team visited Bang Chom Sri watergate in Chee Nam Rai Subdistrict, In Buri District, to follow up on plans to construct an approximately 800-meter flood defense line addressing a breach point. A budget of 250 million baht for fiscal year 2028 was proposed to prevent floodwaters from entering the province’s economic zones. They also received updates from the Water Delivery and Maintenance Project on progress and implementation plans.
Regarding infrastructure, they monitored the construction of Highway 311 between Kraisorn Ratchasi and San Lak Mueang intersections, which is about 20% complete and expected to finish in 2027. Plans include upgrading bridges, building roundabouts to improve traffic flow, developing a new provincial landmark, and proposing budgets to install lighting systems to enhance public safety.
On flood prevention, they reviewed efforts to fix riverbank erosion in Phra Ngam subdistrict, a critical area. The defense line is being realigned and constructed with 16-meter deep piles to reduce soil subsidence risks. The project is divided into four phases with a total budget of 180 million baht, included in the 2028–2031 budget plan.
The Minister emphasized that all agencies, especially the Royal Irrigation Department, Department of Public Works and Town & Country Planning, local administrative organizations, and Sing Buri province, must closely integrate efforts to prepare for the 2026 northern flood season. Although rainfall is forecast to be below average, agencies must remain vigilant, develop emergency plans, and prepare manpower, equipment, and resources to assist the public promptly.
Mr. Pradorn added that the purpose of this visit was to closely monitor flood conditions, inspect actual sites, and coordinate work among all relevant agencies to establish effective flood prevention and mitigation measures, build public confidence, and ensure readiness for potential northern floods affecting Sing Buri in the near future.
