The government encourages Thais to support "Phatthalung Milk," a 100% pure cow's milk brand that has grown from a school milk project into a quality southern brand for more than 30 years. This high-quality milk comes from well-cared-for cows, generating income for farmers and driving the grassroots economy in the region.
On 3 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Second Lieutenant Phattharasarum Thongsaluaykorn, Deputy Spokesperson of the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that the government is advancing support for agricultural products and cooperative-made goods to expand market opportunities, provide stable income for farmers, and elevate Thai products’ recognition. She invited the public to support "Phatthalung Milk," a 100% pure cow's milk product from the Phatthalung Dairy Cooperative Limited, which has grown from the school milk program into a well-established brand in Southern Thailand for over 30 years.
The Deputy Spokesperson explained, "Phatthalung Milk" is a local brand reflecting the success of farmers uniting in a cooperative. It began by promoting dairy farming as a livelihood to generate household income, then expanded from school milk production to a variety of dairy products including pasteurized milk, UHT milk, drinking yogurt, ice cream, and boiled milk. The cooperative remains committed to producing with 100% fresh pure cow's milk under the concept 'Quality milk from happy cows makes happy drinkers.'
Currently, the Phatthalung Dairy Cooperative Limited has 64 members who care for over 1,000 cows, producing an average of 9 tons of raw milk daily. This milk is used for the school milk supplement program covering five provinces in southern Thailand: Phatthalung, Songkhla, Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat. The cooperative also develops popular commercial products among local consumers, adding value to farmers' output and continuously driving the local economy.
Additionally, the Phatthalung Dairy Cooperative plays a vital role in strengthening the national network of dairy cooperatives by purchasing surplus raw milk from the Thai-Denmark Ao Noi Dairy Cooperative in Prachuap Khiri Khan province. This milk is used for the school milk program, optimizing raw milk management and enhancing the stability of the Thai dairy cooperative system.
Second Lieutenant Phattharasarum stated that the government continues to prioritize developing the capacity of cooperatives nationwide through support from the Department of Cooperative Promotion. This includes machinery, equipment, technology, and production efficiency improvements to boost competitiveness and ensure long-term stability for dairy farmers.
Phatthalung Milk is not just a quality product made from 100% pure cow's milk; it is the result of cooperation among farmers, cooperatives, and the government, jointly creating livelihoods, income, and enhancing the value of Thai agricultural products. The government invites the public to support cooperative products, especially "Phatthalung Milk," a quality product from Southern Thailand, to help support Thai farmers and strengthen the grassroots economy sustainably.
