He said if he were still serving as a judge and the evidence was clear, he would immediately sentence the perpetrators to death due to their brutal conduct and repeated offenses. The fact that they committed even more serious crimes again shows that imprisonment cannot reform their character or behavior. This qualifies them for the maximum penalty under the law, especially since there may be additional victims if investigations are expanded thoroughly.
Peeraphan added that in cases with the death penalty, once the case is final, the Department of Corrections should enforce the sentence immediately so offenders fear the punishment. He emphasized that judges normally decide sentences based on the severity of the crime, carefully and cautiously considering the evidence. Therefore, if evidence is clear, there is no reason to reduce or lessen the punishment relative to the crime. However, investigators should gather all evidence of the offense and the offenders' behavioral history both past and present to help prosecutors support the case and strengthen their request for a death sentence.
