During a Bangkok Metropolitan Council (BMC) meeting, she said, The BMC team and Prachachon Party councilors have already discussed the matter. The party welcomes and is open to a transparent investigation. Anyone wishing to file complaints to agencies like the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) may do so at their convenience, and the party is ready to undergo all stages of scrutiny.
When asked about the facts from the accused councilors, Sirikanya explained that although she did not speak with them directly, the initial explanation suggests it was a misunderstanding involving pressing the voting button in the wrong place, which is another factual perspective to be verified. Furthermore, earlier that morning, the BMC president clarified that the entire truth can be verified by reviewing the livestream video of the council meeting. Sirikanya reaffirmed the Prachachon Party's willingness to cooperate with all investigative processes.
Regarding the case of Ms. Thisana Chunhawan or Kaewta, former Prachachon MP, who accused party leadership of asking her to keep silent about harassment, Sirikanya stated that this claim can be confirmed as untrue. There was never a request to silence her. At the time, details were unclear and the perpetrator unidentified, so an investigation could not proceed.
“Kaewta is free to file a complaint. Her case occurred early on, soon after the 2023 election, and not as a result of other subsequent matters. It is not true that she was asked to be silent because of other issues. Now that the matter is public, we want to ensure fairness and justice for the victim. I want to tell Kaewta that the party welcomes her direct testimony for a full investigation. The process has begun, and even if she has not yet come forward, we are compiling evidence to achieve the greatest justice possible.”
When asked if other party leaders were informed by Kaewta, Sirikanya said some leaders were aware, but as explained, the report lacked details and did not identify the perpetrator. Thus, it was unclear how to proceed. Now, with the matter public, the party is seeking facts and striving to ensure fairness for Kaewta.
Regarding concerns that this issue might damage the party’s credibility, Sirikanya responded that it depends on how the party responds. Silence and neglect deserve criticism. This incident occurred before the party took sexual safety policies seriously. She is confident the party can now handle such matters better but is also prepared to investigate past cases thoroughly.
