“Julpan” sent the Ministry of Labor spokesperson to hear the opinions of labor network groups regarding the adjustment of the CARE old-age pension calculation formula. The labor organization network expressed concern that pensions might decrease and proposed the government delay implementation.
At 10:00 a.m. on 3 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Julpan Amornwiwat, Minister of Labor, assigned Pipatchai Paiboon, the Ministry of Labor spokesperson, to chair a meeting with representatives from the Federation of Thai Trade Unions (FTU) and the labor organization network to discuss opinions on the adjustment of the CARE old-age pension calculation formula. The meeting was attended by Ko Kaew Pikulthong, Chairman of the Minister’s Working Group; Surachart Thianthong, Secretary to the Minister of Labor; Kridikorn Wongsawngpanich, Advisor to the Minister; Boonyakorn Damrongrat, Advisor to the Minister; Prasit Patankaro, Inspector of the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare; and representatives from the Social Security Office.
At the meeting, representatives from the FTU and the labor organization network voiced concerns that the CARE pension calculation adjustment might cause some insured persons to receive reduced pension payments. They proposed that the government postpone enforcement of the related ministerial regulations for the time being.
Pipatchai Paiboon stated that once the matter reaches the Cabinet, it will be under the Cabinet's authority. However, he will present all concerns and issues discussed today to the Minister of Labor for awareness and further consideration.
Representatives from the Social Security Office explained the reasons and necessity for improving the old-age pension calculation formula, including the long-term benefits for insured persons. They also addressed questions and engaged in comprehensive discussions with labor network representatives.
The discussion proceeded smoothly, with both sides exchanging information and opinions constructively. The Ministry of Labor remains open to receiving feedback from all sectors to ensure that social security policies are implemented carefully, transparently, and with the utmost benefit for all insured groups.
