At 14:00 on 3 Aug 2026 GMT+7, at the DSI office in Government Complex Building C, Mr. Phawat Pongwittayaphanu, also known as "Pom," a party-list MP from the Prachachon Party, arrived to meet the special case investigators (DSI) to acknowledge the charges under the second summons in the unauthorized foreign exchange (Forex) trading case. The charges include conspiracy to borrow money through fraud, conspiracy to defraud the public, operating securities brokerage without a license, conducting futures contracts business without authorization or registration, and conspiracy to introduce data into a computer system.
When Mr. Phawat Pongwittayaphanu arrived at the DSI on the 2nd floor lobby with his lawyer carrying a large brown envelope of documents, he was seen wearing a suit jacket and dark blue jeans, standing discreetly near the restroom. Earlier, he had taken the elevator to the Technology and Information Case Division on the 9th floor before returning to the 2nd floor to await the lead investigator to escort him upstairs.
Reporters attempted to interview Mr. Phawat briefly before he went upstairs to provide his statement to the investigation team. However, he turned his back, crossed his arms, and walked away from the restroom area to wait by the elevator with his team, not acknowledging the reporters or responding to any questions.
Only his team explained that after Mr. Phawat finished his statement with the investigators, he would come down later to give an interview to the press. The special case investigators then escorted him upstairs to the case division, where the process is expected to take over three to four hours.
Previously, on 31 Jul 2026 GMT+7, Mr. Phawat authorized his team member, Mr. Apichet Thabut, to submit a request to postpone the second summons from 31 Jul 2026 to 3 Aug 2026, citing that he had not yet seen the second summons and was engaged in a commission meeting, thus requesting the postponement, which the investigators acknowledged.
