Suchart Expresses Sadness Over Jiw Saiyok, Lost Elephant Calf, Passing Away Thanks Caregivers Until the End

Suchart Chomklin expressed sadness over the peaceful passing of 'Jiw Saiyok,' the wild elephant calf separated from its herd, and thanked park officials and veterinary teams for their care until the very end.


At 04:37 on 4 August 2026 GMT+7 Suchart Chomklin, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, posted images and messages throughFacebook,expressing condolences on the passing of 'Jiw Saiyok,' the wild elephant calf separated from its herd, stating that "I learned the news at 4 a.m. today and immediately woke up to post about this deeply saddening event. 'Jiw Saiyok,' the elephant calf lost from its herd, has peacefully left us. The officials and medical teams did their very best. Thank you all for your cooperation. Whether human or animal, large or small, everyone wants to live a life befitting their birthright."

He added his thanks to the park officials and veterinary teams who cared for the calf until its final moments and expressed gratitude to the elephant mothers and fathers who offered continuous encouragement on the Facebook page. Today, the calf has passed on to a better realm. We gave our all. He urged all park officials nationwide to be vigilant and, if they find injured wildlife, to promptly bring them for medical care so they can be healed and returned to the forest.  懶 RIP 4 August 2026 04:00 GMT+7.
