At 10:50 a.m. on 4 Aug 2026 GMT+7 at the Government House, Mr. Yossanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, was interviewed regarding the idea of dissolving the Office for Driving National Reform, National Strategy, and Harmony (Por Yor Por). He said that, in principle, the Civil Service Development Committee (CPD) conducts evaluations. Any agency scoring below the set threshold is subject to review according to established procedures with no special exceptions. He has discussed with Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapunt that the process should follow CPD criteria; agencies failing the evaluation may face consolidation or dissolution. As the overseer of Por Yor Por, he believes they have done their best and will monitor this year's outcomes. Regarding Por Yor Por's KPIs, when asked if he thought they would be met, Yossanan said that the office has adjusted its operational approach in various dimensions over the past 2-3 months. He has encouraged Por Yor Por to act as a liaison in cultural funding matters and in continuing efforts to combat unresolved illegal activities. This is an ongoing duty, and efforts are being made to improve it. The evaluation is not his responsibility but that of the designated agencies. When asked if he personally agrees with dissolving Por Yor Por, Yossanan replied that this concerns all government agencies nationwide, not just Por Yor Por alone. He believes enforcing CPD's criteria is important.
When asked about the handling of Por Yor Por personnel, Yossanan stated that currently, Por Yor Por has not been dissolved. He fully supports the CPD's work as there are established criteria for this matter. Regarding whether there might be protests opposing the dissolution, similar to the land bank protests in front of the Government House on 3 Aug, Yossanan reaffirmed his support for the CPD's approach and overarching criteria. He noted that to advance the country, adherence to established guidelines is essential, and everything will be resolved accordingly.
