The government is preparing activities for the birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother, and National Mother's Day on 12 August. The Prime Minister will lead a merit-making and alms-giving ceremony to honor the royal merit and invites government, private sector, and the public to join the activities.
On 4 August 2026, Mrs. Yupa Taweewattanakitbowon, Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, revealed that Wednesday, 12 August 2026, marks the birthday anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. The Prime Minister has requested royal permission on behalf of the government to organize activities commemorating Her Majesty's birthday and National Mother's Day on 12 August 2026 as follows.
Mrs. Yupa stated: 1. Religious ceremonies will be held, including Buddhist chanting and merit-making alms-giving at 07:00 hrs on Wednesday, 12 August 2026. The central ceremony will be at Thong Sanam Luang with 193 monks, chaired by the Prime Minister and his wife. Each province will hold ceremonies at provincial halls or appropriate venues, and overseas, embassies and consulates will arrange ceremonies as deemed suitable and appropriate.
Mrs. Yupa added that the National Office of Buddhism will propose to the Sangha Supreme Council for all temples in Thailand to hold Buddhist chanting and meditation ceremonies honoring the royal merit on Wednesday, 12 August 2026. Thai temples overseas will consider organizing ceremonies as deemed suitable and appropriate. 2. Volunteer activities for public and charitable service will be organized throughout August 2026 as appropriate.
The Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office also invited government agencies, private sector, and the public to join in paying respect to the royal grace, demonstrating loyalty, and organizing activities befitting the honor of this occasion.
