Siripong is pursuing the online vehicle data leak case after leads to the perpetrators were found, revealing efforts to trace links involving 63 agencies.
On 4 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Siripong Angkasukrit, Deputy Minister of Transport, visited Building 9 (Information Technology Center) at the Department of Land Transport (DLT) to follow up on the vehicle data leak case on social media. He was accompanied by Cheep Nomsian, Deputy Director-General of DLT, executives, the ThaiCERT team from the National Cybersecurity Agency (NCSA), and cybercrime investigation police (Technology Crime Suppression Division) to report progress.
Preliminary investigation uncovered traces and leads indicating wrongdoing. The investigation to determine the true cause is ongoing. The ThaiCERT team is stationed at DLT to collect technical evidence using digital forensic methods and is urgently tracing data connection systems (API) with partner agencies.
Deputy Minister Siripong emphasized and instructed cyber police and ThaiCERT to expedite the investigation and bring the offenders to justice. The DLT has already filed legal complaints and has ordered increased frequency in cybersecurity system inspections and urgent reporting of prevention plans.
The Department of Land Transport clarified that it currently connects data with 63 agencies to facilitate public services. It confirmed that the leaked data is only basic information that cannot be used for financial or other transactions, and distributing this data further is illegal.
“The Department of Land Transport warns the public to be cautious of fraudsters who may misuse vehicle information such as license plates, brand, or owner's name to create credibility. We confirm that DLT does not have a policy of calling to request personal information, payment of fines or taxes, or sending SMS or Line links for any transactions. Do not click links, download suspicious apps, or transfer money under any circumstances,” the department stated.
The Department of Land Transport and related agencies will accelerate the investigation to provide public assurance. Anyone with leads or inquiries can contact the DLT hotline 1584, available 24 hours.
