Akkaradet led the commission in Ratchaburi to follow up on the push to declare Ban Pong, Photharam, Chom Bueng, and Suan Phueng as special zones for sustainable tourism in the province.
On 4 Aug 2026 GMT+7 at Ban Pong Municipality, Ratchaburi, Mr. Akkaradet Wongpitakroj, MP for Ratchaburi from the Bhumjaithai Party, serving as advisor and commissioner of the Parliamentary Committee on Court Affairs, Independent Organizations, Prosecutor's Office, State Enterprises, Public Organizations, and Funds, led a subcommittee with its advisors to Ban Pong district, Ratchaburi, to monitor progress in promoting Ban Pong, Photharam, Chom Bueng, and Suan Phueng districts to be upgraded as special zones for sustainable tourism.
The meeting included Ms. Thitilak Kampa, Governor of Ratchaburi, Ms. Kulthida Phaya, Ban Pong district chief, Mr. Krisda Praditkul, Mayor of Ban Pong Municipality, representatives from relevant government agencies, and local private sector participants. They gathered to discuss and exchange views to jointly define strategies for systematically and sustainably developing Ratchaburi’s tourism potential.
The meeting reviewed progress on data collection and area development plans, considering suggestions from all sectors to support the declaration of the four districts as special zones for sustainable tourism. This designation will be a key mechanism to elevate tourism site management, conserve natural and cultural resources, and simultaneously generate income and improve residents’ quality of life in a balanced way.
Mr. Akkaradet stated that upgrading these areas as special zones for sustainable tourism will enhance Ratchaburi’s competitiveness in tourism. It will foster integration among government, private sector, and local communities, while opening opportunities for infrastructure development, investment, and tourism promotion that prioritize sustainability in all dimensions. This will lead to income distribution and strengthen the province’s grassroots economy over the long term.
