Ministry of Foreign Affairs Assigns Consular Department to Manage Hlun Solo Remains upon Arrival in Thailand, Urges Georgia for Autopsy Results

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced progress in preparing to return the remains of "Hlun Solo" to Thailand, assigning the acting director-general of the Consular Department to oversee facilitation upon arrival and urging Georgia to expedite the autopsy results.


On 4 August 2026, Ms. Jaitai Upakarnitiket, director-general of the Information Department and spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, provided an update that today (4 August 2026), officials from the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara, together with Thai volunteers in Georgia and representatives from the transportation company, coordinated the repatriation of Mr. Bowornthat Pengsuk, also known as Hlun Solo, back to Thailand. They have directly informed the family and relevant parties of the schedule. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs has assigned the acting director-general of the Consular Department to assist with facilitation upon the remains’ arrival in Thailand.


Following this, the Royal Thai Embassy will continue to closely monitor the autopsy results after requesting that Georgian authorities expedite the process.
