Thailand showcased its global readiness by participating in WorldPride Amsterdam 2026 and submitting its bid to host WorldPride 2030.
On 3 Aug 2026 GMT+7 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Mr. Kantapong Rangsisawang, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (Permanent Secretary MSDHS), led the Thai delegation including Mrs. Jatuporn Rojanapanich, Director-General of the Department of Women's Affairs and Family Development, Mr. Nopporn Pasanta, Assistant Permanent Secretary MSDHS, and Dr. Anekchai Ruangrattanakorn, Advisor to the Minister of MSDHS, to participate in the Thailand Reception networking event at WorldPride Amsterdam 2026. This showcased Thailand's commitment and readiness to host WorldPride 2030.
Mr. Kantapong delivered a keynote speech titled “Thailand’s Commitment to Equality, Inclusion and Human Dignity,” emphasizing that WorldPride is more than a celebration of sexual diversity; it is a vital social force driving structural and legal changes to ensure everyone enjoys rights, freedoms, and equal dignity without discrimination based on gender.
Before the event, the MSDHS delegation held discussions with Mrs. Premrudee Lotharukpong, Minister Counselor at the Royal Thai Embassy in The Hague, and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) to coordinate support for the hosting bid. The Department of Women's Affairs and Family Development (DWA) committed to fully supporting volunteer training in preparation for WorldPride 2030.
Mrs. Jatuporn Rojanapanich, Director-General of DWA, reaffirmed Thailand’s global progress by citing policy achievements such as enforcement of the Gender Equality Act B.E. 2558 (2015), measures to prevent and address sexual harassment at work, establishment of Gender Equality Centers (GEC) covering all 76 provinces nationwide, and advancing legislation recognizing gender identity.
“This participation announces Thailand’s readiness to InterPride members and global partners, demonstrating that Thailand has the infrastructure, legal framework, and social momentum to be a proud host for WorldPride 2030,” the Thai delegation stated.
