Government Opens Registration for Solar Rooftop Installation Operators Until 30 Sept to Promote Clean Energy

The government has opened registration for solar rooftop installation operators until 30 September to reduce electricity bills, support clean energy use, and enhance installation standards to ensure public safety and security.

On 5 August 2026, Ms. Lalida Pertwiwatana, Deputy Spokesperson of the Office of the Prime Minister, announced that the government is advancing the transition to clean energy according to the policy of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul. Deputy Minister of Interior Pol. Maj. Gen. Peer Suwannachavee chaired the press conference launching the registration for solar rooftop system installation operators and equipment certification to prepare for the expansion of solar rooftop installation among the public nationwide.

The Deputy Spokesperson said that the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) and the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) are accepting registrations for operators (vendors) and installation equipment such as solar panels and inverters from 3 August to 30 September 2026. Operators must meet qualifications and standards set by the electricity authorities, while equipment must be certified to international standards like IEC and the Thai Industrial Standards (TIS) to ensure safety and reliability for the public.

The Deputy Spokesperson added that the government is implementing support measures for solar rooftop installation costs under the Royal Decree granting the Ministry of Finance borrowing authority to address the energy crisis impact and facilitate the country’s energy transition in 2026. The initial goal is to enable 500,000 electricity-using households to install solar rooftops to help reduce electricity bills and promote clean energy use in a practical way.

The Deputy Spokesperson emphasized that the government prioritizes public safety alongside promoting clean energy. All operators, engineers, installers, and equipment must meet the prescribed standards to ensure the public receives a quality, safe system that operates efficiently and lasts at least 20 years.

Ms. Lalida stated that the MEA and PEA will jointly supervise the standards for operators, installation, and after-sales service so that the public can choose certified operators and use equipment verified for safety and compliance with uniform standards nationwide.

Interested operators can contact the MEA and PEA branches nationwide or inquire at the MEA Call Center at 1130 and the PEA Contact Center at 1129. The government believes that raising solar rooftop installation standards will boost public confidence, reduce electricity costs, support clean energy adoption, and strengthen the country’s long-term energy security.
