The Prime Minister firmly vows to crack down without leniency on the network cheating in local civil service exams, protecting no one regardless of status—whether big or small, anyone caught will face consequences.
On 5 Aug 2026 GMT+7, Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul spoke about the progress of the investigation led by Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapan, chair of the fact-finding and legal committee on corruption in local civil service exams. He said the official written report is being prepared, but reassured the public there will be no protection for anyone, as he has ordered a “name-blind, behavior-based” approach that is being strictly applied.
“This morning, multiple agencies met with Mr. Pakorn, who said to follow the Prime Minister’s directive: conceal names and judge by behavior. Whoever is caught will face the consequences—whether big or small, political or permanent officials—all will be prosecuted according to the law,” Anutin said.
When asked about rumors involving politicians, Anutin confirmed he does not need to know names since it is the investigation committee’s duty. He will not interfere and said firmly that if contacted, he will say he is unaware. The sole approach is that anyone who commits wrongdoing must face legal charges—serious offenses lead to prison, lesser offenses receive proportionate penalties.
The Prime Minister also stated that some investigation committees operate independently, such as the National Anti-Corruption Commission, and even those he appointed will not be interfered with. Regarding officials whose appointments were revoked and whether they can return to local work, he said it depends on their own rights and procedures. However, if found involved in wrongdoing, they will be prosecuted under the law as well.
