The Central Committee on Local Government Officer Examinations (กสถ.) is holding its final discussion on revoking fraudulent exam results and reissuing updated candidate lists before submitting the matter to the Central Committee on 6 August. Nirath reiterated that the number of exam fraudsters still stands at 5,925 and confirmed that candidates who passed legitimately will be notified within August.
At 1:00 PM on 5 August 2026, at the Department of Local Administration (DLA) the Central Committee on Local Government Officer Examinations (กสถ.) held a meeting attended by Mr. Atsit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior; Mr. Wanchai Chanporn, Chairman of กสถ.; Mr. Nirath Pongsitthaworn, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, acting Director-General of DLA; and Mr. Boonprasong Nuansai, Deputy Director-General of DLA, serving as secretary to กสถ.
The Chairman of กสถ. disclosed before the meeting that today’s agenda would consider operational procedures following the announcement to cancel the list of candidates found guilty of exam fraud, for which he had already signed two orders though they are not yet in effect. The first matter is to cancel the old list and create a new one that excludes those found guilty of fraud. There will be a report on the total number of applicants, examinees, those listed, and the number of fraudsters. The data will be divided into two groups: those who failed both parts A and B, and those who passed both parts but had their scores adjusted upwards.
When asked if the number of exam fraudsters was indeed 5,925, Mr. Wanchai said to wait for the data from the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, but today’s meeting would report the figures for acknowledgment. He believed this would be the final and accurate data. Regarding the reordering of the lists, today’s process will only cancel the fraudulent candidate lists and create new ones. Procedures will be set for how to proceed, with provinces responsible for revoking those who do not meet criteria by reporting to local administrative organizations (LAOs). The revoked names will be reported back to กสถ. for re-ranking. Procedures will also clarify whether candidates remain in their original positions or are reassigned, including consideration of whether those who waived their rights in the previous round remain on the list, as well as the duration for which candidates remain on the list, to be discussed in today’s meeting.
When asked if further meetings would be required, Mr. Wanchai replied that after กสถ. reaches a resolution, it must report to the Central Committee (ก.กลาง) to confirm agreement with กสถ.’s decisions, since the Central Committee is the appointing authority for กสถ.
Mr. Nirath, acting Director-General of DLA, stated that today’s meeting would consider the outcomes from the 17 July meeting, which categorized all examinees into three groups. The first group consists of candidates who passed honestly; the committee will discuss how to proceed with them. The second group includes those whose scores were adjusted and who have already been appointed; the committee will decide whether to dismiss or remove them from service. Subsequently, the Provincial Committee will be notified to establish measures before forwarding to local authorities. The third group comprises candidates who passed but whose scores were adjusted upward; the committee will determine the appropriate approach for this group.
Mr. Nirath also noted that over the past month, no obstacles have arisen since receiving the Prime Minister’s assignment to manage the case after delays and internal issues at DLA. Legal proceedings continue independently. He emphasized that the fact-finding committee led by Deputy Prime Minister Pakorn Nilprapunt is separate from กสถ. Pakorn’s committee investigates those involved in wrongdoing, while DLA’s responsibility is managing the examination and recruitment processes.
Additionally, Mr. Nirath stressed that candidates who passed legitimately and are awaiting appointment will be notified within August, reaffirming that the number of fraudulent examinees remains at 5,925. .
