On 5 August 2026, Siriphong Angkasakulkit, Deputy Minister of Transport, commented on the disturbance at Suvarnabhumi Airport after more than 20 Chinese tourists were denied boarding, and images emerged of Thai airport staff making racially discriminatory gestures, sparking controversy. He said he had received reports from Suvarnabhumi Airport that security officers were involved in maintaining order, but their actions may have been inappropriate and excessive, violating acceptable standards. Therefore, Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) will take full action and apologizes to passengers and all Thai people.
