Father Focus Submits Tape Evidence of Bangkok Council Meeting to NACC for Investigation into Peoples Party Councilors

Democrat and Pheu Thai Bangkok councilors visited the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) to submit tape recordings of a council meeting, seeking investigation into People's Party councilors allegedly casting proxy votes in the Bangkok Metropolitan Council.

On 5 Aug 2026 GMT+7 at the National Anti-Corruption Commission office, Mr. Napapol Jeerakul, a Bangkok Metropolitan Councilor for Bangkok Noi district from the Democrat Party, accompanied by Pheu Thai councilors, filed a complaint requesting the NACC to investigate the alleged proxy voting during the Bangkok Metropolitan Council meeting held on Friday, 31 June.

Mr. Napapol stated that the Bangkok Metropolitan Council is responsible for issuing ordinances that affect the public; therefore, all councilors must work with accuracy, transparency, and strict adherence to the law. Due to widespread public suspicion about the incident, he presented evidence—including the complaint and tape recordings of the council meeting on the day in question—to the NACC for investigation. He also requested that all witnesses present at the event be summoned for questioning. If any wrongdoing is confirmed, he urged that the case be forwarded to the courts for strict legal penalties.

"I urge the NACC to conduct a serious and straightforward investigation into the proxy voting. If any misconduct is found, I ask that the legal process be pursued accordingly," Mr. Napapol emphasized.
