On 5 Aug 2026 GMT+7 at the parliament, Abhisit Vejjajiva, leader of the Democrat Party, spoke about a complaint from Silpakorn University representatives regarding the SME Promotion Office's (SMEPO) electronic transaction platform project. Issues raised include lack of transparency in the selection process and intimidation of those not selected who appealed. The party will bring this matter to the House Anti-Money Laundering and Narcotics Control Commission chaired by Pitakdech Dechdecho, MP for Nakhon Si Thammarat. Abhisit called on the Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office, as SMEPO's supervisor, to seriously investigate to ensure transparency and review SMEPO's performance. The party plans to propose amendments to the SME Promotion Act to parliament.

Abhisit further commented on the Land Bridge project, saying the overall picture remains unclear since the committee chaired by the Finance Minister concluded the project is not cost-effective. It is uncertain whether the government will push ahead or accept the committee's findings. He reaffirmed the Democrat Party's position that the current form of the project is not worthwhile, but the party supports the government accelerating development and improving the entire southern logistics system. The focus should not be solely on addressing bottlenecks or missing links between Ranong and Chumphon ports. Instead, the Southern Connect concept should be adopted to develop southern transportation comprehensively for maximum benefit to the local economy and the country as a whole.
Vows thorough investigation into alleged Senate collusion and the 2027 budget bill.
Following the upcoming parliamentary session opening, the party plans to debate key issues such as the Senate collusion case, consideration of draft royal decrees, and the 2027 annual budget bill. As a commissioner overseeing independent organizations, Abhisit also plans to lead a seminar on the direction and future of independent bodies to strengthen democratic oversight mechanisms in Thailand. He reiterated that the Democrat Party will continue working fully for all citizens.
