Permanent Secretary of Interior Reveals Disciplinary Committee Summons Former Director General of Local Administration Department to Testify in Local Official Exam Fraud Case on 6 Aug

Atthasit, Permanent Secretary of the Interior, revealed that the disciplinary committee has summoned Theerut, former Director General of the Department of Local Administration, to testify in the local official exam fraud case on 6 August. He pointed out that if evidence is sufficient, the committee can conclude and submit results to the Ministry of Interior before forwarding to the Civil Service Subcommittee for penalty consideration.

At 16:30 on 5 August 2026, at the Department of Local Administration (DLA). Atthasit Sampanrat, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, gave an interview regarding Theerut Supawiboonpol, former Director General of the Department of Local Administration, who will go to acknowledge charges related to involvement in local official exam fraud at the Central Investigation Bureau on 6 August. This will determine whether the serious disciplinary committee investigating five officials under the DLA, chaired by Theerapat Kachamat, Director General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM), can accuse them of disciplinary violations. He said this depends on the chairperson of the disciplinary investigation committee, who will proceed according to authority together with the appointed committee members.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior added, if evidence is sufficient and no further investigation is needed, the committee can proceed under its authority and submit to the Ministry of Interior. However, if the violation is serious, it will be proposed to the Civil Service Subcommittee (CSC) to consider penalties as recommended by the committee.

When asked if the DDPM Director General had initially reported progress, Atthasit replied that he had been informed that on 6 August, Theerut, former Director General of the DLA, will be summoned to give testimony.
