Lawyer Anon Nampha issued a lengthy letter recounting the fate of Section 112 political prisoners under the blue regime. He said this storm is severe, with prisoners being separated and not allowed to stay together, resulting in assaults by common criminals.
On 5 August 2026, Anon Nampha, a lawyer and human rights activist, posted a letter on Facebook addressed to dear friends he misses. He explained that this letter was written with great distress because the fate of Section 112 political prisoners is now very difficult. They need help but cannot specify what kind of assistance they require. This situation exceeds their capacity and possibly that of their friends. Therefore, this letter may only express concerns about the imminent danger facing Section 112 political prisoners in prison.
At the end of last month, Bangkok Remand Prison began transferring Section 112 political prisoners, scattering them across different prison zones so they cannot stay together. This deeply worries them because in 2021, unidentified prison officials attempted to abduct them late at night and pressured them to apply for individual royal pardons starting 18 May 2025, citing a “senior official.” They refused. Later, when the Bhumjaithai Party government took office and changed the prison management team, attempts were made to separate them.
"Let me describe the prison atmosphere so friends can understand how frightening it is. If we are separated into different zones, Bangkok Remand Prison plays the royal anthem twice daily—at 18:15 and 05:55. Yes, you heard correctly. This chilling atmosphere is particularly harsh for Section 112 political prisoners accused of "trying to overthrow the monarchy." One of our comrades who was isolated in a separate zone was assaulted by common criminals for not standing during the royal anthem as scheduled. That friend has now been transferred to the death row prison (Bang Kwang)."
Anon further stated that few understand this vulnerability unless they have experienced it firsthand. Being held together does not guarantee we won't be harmed or killed, but it ensures that if someone tries to attack or kill us, they must eliminate us all. Otherwise, survivors would expose the abuses we suffered.
"The fate of Section 112 political prisoners under the blue regime led by the Bhumjaithai Party is like birds trapped in a cage, dust scattered into the water—what remains? I am troubled writing this letter because, although I want to ask friends for help, I do not yet know how to ask. This storm is overwhelmingly large. Love and miss you all."
