The Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent the Acting Director-General of the Consular Department to receive the body of “Hlun,” while the family intends to conduct a forensic examination before returning the body for religious rites in his hometown.
On 6 August 2026, Ms. Jaitai Upakarnitiket, Director-General of the Information Department and spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reported that this morning (6 August 2026), the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs assigned Ms. Pratuengtip Siriwitej, Acting Director-General of the Consular Department, to facilitate the reception of the body of Mr. Bowornthat Pengsuk, also known as “Hlun Solo,” who died in Tbilisi, Georgia, on 14 July 2026.
Since learning of the situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara, has closely coordinated with Mr. Bowornthat’s family, Georgian authorities, and other relevant parties. Embassy staff were immediately dispatched to the area to expedite cooperation with Georgian officials regarding the investigation into the cause of death, the procedures for repatriating the body to Thailand, and to follow up on the previous delays with Georgian authorities.
Today, the family will take Mr. Bowornthat’s body for forensic examination before returning it for religious ceremonies in Somdet District, Kalasin Province, his place of origin.
