“Suriya” launched the Muang Loei Rambutan Festival in Siao Subdistrict, highlighting local signature products, connecting markets and tourism, and promoting grassroots economic development.
On 6 August 2026, Mr. Suriya Juangroongruangkit, Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, presided over the opening of the “Muang Loei Rambutan Festival, Siao Subdistrict’s Finest, 2026” held from 6 to 7 August 2026 at the Siao Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Muang Loei District, Loei Province. The event aims to add value to agricultural products, promote standardized processing, expand market opportunities, stimulate tourism, and drive the grassroots economy. The opening was attended by Mr. Watcharapol Khawkhum, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Mr. Chaiphot Jaroonpong, Governor of Loei Province, executives, government department heads, and local residents.
Mr. Suriya stated that the government and Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives have a policy to strengthen Thailand’s agricultural sector by producing quality agricultural products that meet GAP standards, while increasing value and linking markets. They also support the use of technology, innovation, and appropriate management to boost competitiveness and improve farmers’ incomes.
“Siao rambutan is another agricultural product reflecting the potential of Loei’s farmers and is a renowned fruit that brings fame to the area. I commend all sectors working together to develop product quality to gain acceptance. The Ministry of Agriculture is ready to promote production standards throughout the value chain to build consumer confidence, enhance competitiveness, and further increase the value of local agricultural products by linking them to community tourism. This will lead to job creation, income generation, and sustainable growth of the grassroots economy,” Mr. Suriya said.
On this occasion, the Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives and his delegation presented agricultural land titles, chicken eggs, and production inputs to farmer representatives to ensure secure farmland, reduce production costs, and increase incomes. They also visited the dog and cat sterilization service point and exhibitions providing knowledge from agencies under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.
Siao rambutan is a famous fruit of Loei Province, distinguished by its sweet taste, soft flesh, and crunchy texture, favored by consumers. Currently, 150 farmers in Siao Subdistrict cultivate rambutan as a primary or supplementary occupation over 600 rai, generating approximately 10 to 25 million baht annually. Thus, Siao rambutan is an important economic crop that helps generate income for farmers and local communities.
