The P-Move group stormed the Ministry of Interior demanding solutions to farmland issues. A scuffle broke out pushing the territorial volunteer shields, causing glass to break. Both protesters and volunteers suffered minor injuries before ending the protest after the Ministry of Interior accepted their demands and scheduled a key meeting for 19 August.
On 6 August 2026, approximately 150 members from the People's Movement for a Just Society (P-Move), the Northern Farmers Federation, and the Assembly of Forest Dweller Communities, led by Mr. Jamnong Nuphan, chairman of P-Move's executive board, arrived at the Ministry of Interior to submit a letter and discuss resolving public land issues in 19 provinces including Bangkok. They also called for the establishment of a subcommittee to drive problem-solving as previously requested of the Ministry.
While awaiting coordination, the protesters gave speeches criticizing the Ministry of Interior and political authorities for the absence of political representatives to receive their letter, interpreting this as a disregard for public hardship. They demanded the Ministry issue regulations or guidelines properly recognizing residence rights on public land and establish a ministerial mechanism to expedite problem resolution. The protesters were permitted to use the ministry's restroom with staff assistance.
Later, from 09:30 to 10:25 at the Damrongtham Center meeting room, Ministry of Interior representatives informally met with Mr. Chaiwat Duangsodsri, head of the Minister's Office, Ms. Rattana Sorapoom, director of the Inspection and Complaints Bureau of the Ministry's Permanent Secretary Office, and other relevant officials to discuss initial solutions ahead of the official meeting. The protesters presented key issues as follows.
Regarding public land, they requested the appointment of a committee to resolve public land issues in 19 provinces including Bangkok, and called on the Department of Lands to revoke land titles in the case of the Tub Yang community in Phang Nga Province, in accordance with the Supreme Administrative Court's ruling.
They also urged the Governor of Surat Thani Province to continue resolving issues in the Tai Dam community, requesting replacement of representatives involved due to conflicts with the community. They asked for a working group to review land title documents in the Tub Tawan community, Takua Pa District, Phang Nga Province, and to allow public access to original public routes during the investigation.
Concerning rights and personal status, they requested an expedited meeting of the subcommittee on rights and personal status, appointed by Deputy Prime Minister Mr. Songsak Thongsri on 5 August 2026, within the following week. They also asked for swift consideration of recognizing displaced Thai people's status, with the Ministry of Interior secretariat coordinating the agenda and meeting date.
Regarding the land bank issue, the group expressed concern over proposals to dissolve the land bank, noting differing opinions between the Deputy Prime Minister for legal affairs and the Deputy Prime Minister overseeing the matter. They requested the Minister of Interior coordinate to prevent negative impacts on resolving public problems.
While waiting for coordination on the meeting date, the P-Move crowd entered the parking area and central corridor, mobilizing and pressuring for the meeting date to be set.
The Territorial Volunteer Command deployed shields to protect the premises, but protesters pushed forward, causing a minor scuffle that broke two glass panels of the public relations board in front of the Damrongtham Center. Several protesters and volunteers sustained minor injuries.
Subsequently, political officials coordinated with Mr. Pon Peer Suwanchavee, Deputy Minister of Interior, to set the subcommittee meeting date addressing public land, abandoned private land, and housing and farmland issues in communities on public land, led by the Department of Lands as secretariat, scheduled for 19 August 2026.
Mr. Phasakorn Boonlakham, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, informed the protesters of the schedule. The group expressed satisfaction and announced the end of the protest at 17:00, confirming some clashes occurred but were resolved amicably as they are all Thai citizens.
The Ministry of Interior arranged transportation to facilitate the protesters' return to temporary shelters at the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission in an orderly manner.
